My Final Campaign Letter

Hello all of my friends in Cochise County and beyond,

It has been a beautiful rainy season with just enough sunny days to get the work done and plenty of rain to make the skies bluer, the clouds fluffier and the hills green enough to make everyday labor a pleasure. Today the grass is just as green on our side of the fence and I am so grateful for that blessing.  The campaign has given me ample opportunity to ramble along the byways of Southern AZ and enjoy things I haven’t noticed for a while. But the joy has come from experiencing the new friends I am making.  People with heartstrings in tune with the mine, having the same love for this great country and people who are as strong and beautiful as the mountains all around us. I am quickly falling in love with all of you. Many are reaching out to me, hoping for and anticipating a change.  Life in Cochise County has presented challenges to them and government has left it’s mark (often unpleasant and unyielding) upon some, even in our peaceful communities.  I have pledged my attention, listening ear and sheer determination to help be a mediator and champion the causes of my constituents.  I am receiving calls regularly and have begun to research and help where I can.  I am grateful for the confidence you are already showing in me and appreciate the many hundreds of people who smile and say, “You have my vote!”

Gearing Up
With the election closing in – less than 1 dozen days away – I am very excited that I have such great support.  I am giving it my all and have moved beyond the $500 dollar threshold just today, with my first radio ad coming out.  I just heard it!  I hope you will listen to KHIL or The Cave in Benson and let me know what you think.  The final decision to begin taking donations and making the added effort was made when you began reaching out to me in frequency and numbers, telling me that you need me.  I switched gears, I am no longer running for me at all, I am running for you!

Thinking on My Feet
I haven’t been challenged to this degree in a few years, it is no longer possible for me to sit back and take life as it is dished out.  My brain, my intellect and even my muscles are are tuned to you.  I rely much on prayer and inspiration and it has been coming.  Many of the activities I have planned and ideas I have presented are kindly suggested and supported by others and some hatched, miraculously, in my brain.  I am equally grateful for each and anxious to receive any and all suggestions you may have for the next 2 weeks and beyond.   Catch me at anytime of day, at the store, at home or headed to a meeting – I am excited to speak with you and offer my answers to your hard questions.  It does get easier with practice.  I believe it is important “training” that a person must go through to be prepared to hold office and be a true leader.  My number is 520-507-1880 or 520-507-1735.

Judd Plans to Study, Shine and Serve in Cochise County

Peggy Moser Judd, a lifetime resident of Willcox, Arizona, is officially announcing her Candidacy for a seat on the Cochise County Board of Supervisors, representing District 3 which includes the communities of West Sierra Vista, Huachuca City, Whetstone, Mescal, Benson, Pomerene, Cascabel, St. David, Dragoon, Pearce/Sunsites, Sunizona, Ash Creek, Dos Cabezes, Willcox, Bowie and San Simon.  She has previously developed a connection and trust in these and dozens of other Southern Arizona communities as she served in the State House of Representatives in 2011-2012.  Using her experience gained at the State Legislature and at the many national conferences she attended that addressed Health, Safety, Energy, Agriculture, Jobs, Economy and Constitutional Leadership, she says she plans to provide a well rounded, principled and conservative voice that will speak up for what is right and most importantly for what promotes freedom and will benefit the people she serves.  Her campaign slogan is to Study, Shine and Serve.
Judd studied her Legislative District, The Constitution, Bills and other state work she was responsible for. She attended every stakeholder meeting that was made available to her and was determined to learn as much as she could about the people she served, was present in each community as concerns arose and celebrated with them during festivals.  Learning requires involvement and she is committed to continue learning. In her “Interim” time since holding office she has continued to attend Ag Day, The County Fair and special community meetings such as the one to determine the fate of Bowie’s Water.  Judd invites, “Please feel free to reach out to me, invite me to any and everything.  I want to continue getting to know you.  No reason to wait until after the election.”
She also intends to shine a light on Cochise County through spreading positivity about the county and by her involvement, as your representative, locally, regionally and nationally.  She will continue to be a member of the National Foundation for Women Legislators, reaching out and working with other elected women across the country learning about issues and solutions that can improve our lives here at home.  She earned many awards, as a Legislator, including the Friend of Small Business Award from the NFIB and served on several House Committees including the Energy and Natural Resources and Ag and Water Committees. She was a shining example of good, honest leadership, according to her colleagues, and a great reflection on the community from which she came.
According to Judd she is very excited to serve those who live, own businesses, work and visit Cochise County, especially those who reside in the one-half of the county she will represent. Even though it is the county’s largest district geographically, it is small compared to the area she covered as a legislator, which included a large portion of 5 counties.  Judd said, “This is a smaller and more closely knit group of constituents and I’m enthused that so many of them represent the agricultural background that is so much a part of my life.”

She understands the most important issues in Northern Cochise County: Lack of jobs and/or the number of people who are not working and should be, Economy-providing for more robust communities and better quality of life, Danger of over-regulation, Problems of government not following their own rules or pressing their mis-guided agenda on the citizens and Limited public resources affecting safety and welfare of citizens in remote areas near the Mexico border.   Her desire is to Study, Shine and Serve as a full time Supervisor, to spend each and every day addressing your needs in your homes and communities and to carry your voices and wishes with her to Cochise County, to the State Capitol or even the Federal Government as needed.

My Motto is Study, Shine and Serve

I am a passionate forever student.  I love to read, listen and learn.  I will always be listening to your concerns, learning from each of you.  Attending your community meetings, learning from your leaders what works for you in your towns and cities.  Participating in conferences and activities that build my knowledge in areas that will bring positive changes to Cochise County.

I will shine with my friendly smile, wherever I go.  My good nature and my love and concern for each of my constituents will be evident at all times.  I will also shine a light into the dark corners and bring added transparency to government.  Finally, I will shine a light on all the good our county has to offer and be a catalyst for growth and improvement in our county being active in every way possible to bring more industry, tourists and people who want to move to our wonderful county.

I come from a good, strong family of workers.  I learned to work hard for the sake of accomplishing a good thing. I have been hoeing weeds on our family farm since I was big enough to man the hoe and I am still tender with memories for the days when I carried irrigation tubes for my dad... when I could carry 3 and then 6 and even 10... when I could start them with only a few tugs.  I can honestly say, my good father, Earl Moser, taught me to work and I am grateful for that.

I have much experience and a reputation for volunteering in my community.  Nearly 20 years in the classrooms and on campus at Willcox Schools, I have learned that volunteers are an extremely important asset to our public schools and I am very proud of the volunteers who have followed in my footsteps.  Our family fostered children for 10 years and that gave us a wealth of experience and love that will never end for some awesome children we hold dear until today. Serving on Parks and Recreation in Willcox for 10 years was an extreme adventure and pleasure, as we sought community support and ideas and re-created the wonderful Keiller Park in Willcox, AZ.   A patch of weeds and dirt turned in to the envy and enjoyment of thousands!  That led to serving on the Rex Allen Days board, heading up the festival at the park.  I have also served as Secretary and Treasurer as well as the President of Rex Allen Days. My Service as your State Representative in 2011 and 2012 was a wonderful experience and I loved my district; often driving hundreds of miles a day to visit and assist in communities that I was responsible for.  So much can be accomplished with a bit, or a lot, of elbow grease and I am willing to work, work, work!

I look forward to learning about, shining for the good in can bring and serving each of you!

April 2016 Editorial - Local Politics 101

A Representative

Have you had a political awakening? I became “political” just a few years ago.  In an advocacy workshop, I learned how to contact my elected officials and found a willing ear and helping hand in a few of our local Representatives and am grateful for their service.  Still, I did not “know” what they did.
I would like to share what an elected government leader does; a lesson I learned by being thrown in the pool, so to speak.

In 2010, I was asked to run for public office by a kind member of the County Republican Committee.  I considered the options and politely declined.  A few weeks later another position opened and with the pressure of the first encounter behind me (and the sun warming my bare feet on the beach, where I sat) I said yes.  The next year taught me first-hand something we should all know. First: An elected official is required to be a genuine, honest person.  Someone who can remain “themselves” under pressure and stick to good principles that are already a key part of their life.  Second: An elected official provides a listening ear. Many problems can be resolved with the help of the proper communication and connections.  Third: An elected official is a Representative!  Speaking for those who live and work in their district.  Any vote should be a vote for the constituent(s) he represents, but educating the other members as to the needs of your district is ultimately more important and effective.

As State Representative, I put my 3 discoveries into practice. I faithfully represented and served the 240,000+ constituents in our Legislative District. This work included phone calls, personal visits, meetings, parades, celebrations and thousands of emails from and in nearly 100 communities in Southern Arizona.  LD-25 included 5 southern counties in AZ from NM to the Yuma County line.  Many days I would travel over 400 miles to fulfil my duties. I am pleased to be centrally located in my potential, new Supervisor District in Northern Cochise County where the longest commute is just over an hour and I would have only 40,000 of you to love, serve and represent.

It is my number one goal and desire to serve you as your new Cochise County Supervisor.  I am looking forward to an engaging and successful campaign season and invite you to be a part of it, by following me on Facebook and Voting for Peggy Judd on August 30, 2016.
